Navratri pujan
Miniature painting of Rathore clan of jodhpur conducting Navratri puja in celebration of Goddess Durga
This miniature style painting depicts a Navratri puja ceremony, a nine day festival dedicated to the worship of the Hindu Goddess Durga.
The Maharaja and Maharani of the Rathore clan of Jodhpur (Rajasthan) identified by the ‘Pachranga’ or five colour flag visibly used as bunting at the top of the painting. The origins of the Pachranga can be traced back to the battlefield, where it served as a rallying point for Rathore warriors. It is displayed prominently during festivals, ceremonies, and auspicious occasions. The musicians seated in the foreground play a significant role with the rhythmic beats of the drum reverberating through the air creating an atmosphere of devotion and reverence
